The University of Ottawa takes pride in the diverse composition of its international student community. The Entrance and Excellence Scholarships are average-based renewable scholarships designed for students from Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, South Korea, India, or Bangladesh who are studying in English and have been admitted in the Fall 2024 term (September start date).
In the fall 2024 term, international students from the mentioned countries will experience substantial reductions in their tuition fees when enrolled in eligible undergraduate programs offered in English, showcasing the university’s commitment to supporting global education.
All eligible students will automatically receive this scholarship upon enrollment, and it will be directly applied to their tuition fees.
It’s important to note that the Entrance scholarship cannot be combined with the Excellence Scholarship for African Students Studying in English. The university’s scholarship program is recognized as one of the most generous in Canada. It not only acknowledges your academic achievements before university but also rewards your accomplishments each term of full-time study at the university. This new scholarship initiative aims to provide African students studying in English with access to various pilot programs across three faculties at a significantly reduced tuition cost.
In a bid to assist students throughout the application process, the University of Ottawa will host a number of virtual sessions to answer questions and guide prospective students on the application process.

Aim and Benefits of International English Scholarships
The amount of scholarships varies based on the faculty offering the degree and the average admittance.
Requirements for International English Scholarships Qualification
When they enroll in an appropriate undergraduate program offered in English, students from Africa, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, or Vietnam will automatically be eligible for an Entrance or Excellence renewable, average-based scholarship. In the same programs, South Korean and Chinese students will be given consideration for Excellence scholarships.
International students who wish to apply for these scholarships must fulfill the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of any country in Africa or one of the countries listed
- Be newly admitted in the fall 2024 term in one of the eligible undergraduate programs offered in English in one of the faculties listed
- Not enrol in the French immersion stream
- Have a valid study permit when classes start
- Be enrolled full time.
Note: Canadian citizens with dual citizenship (Canada and another country) are not eligible since they already qualify for Canadian tuition rates.

How to Apply
- First the student has to apply here: https://www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-105/
- Subsequently, the university will receive the application and generate a unique Student Number. This Student Number serves as the login credential for the school’s portal, UOZone, where prospective students can submit their results and necessary documents for the review process.
- After a successful review, they will receive an offer of conditional admission, contingent on their average, which may include the scholarship.
