Applications for the University of British Columbia’s Four Year Doctoral Fellowship (4YF), which is available to deserving students worldwide, are now being accepted. The UBC doctorate Fellowships Program will guarantee that the top PhD, DMA, and MDPhD candidates at UBC get financial aid for up to four years of their doctorate studies, with a minimum annual support amount of $18,200.
With the help of the program, UBC is able to draw in and support exceptional PhD candidates from both domestic and foreign universities, as well as give them steady, base-level funding for their research and studies.

Eligibility Criteria | UBC Doctoral Fellowships 2024
- Both domestic and foreign students are eligible to apply for the four-year fellowships. Although they might be extended to ongoing students, the fellowships are often awarded to students starting their first year of full-time PhD, DMA, or MDPhD study.
- Up to four years of 4YF money may be available, while in certain cases, funding may be granted for a shorter period of time (for more information, please see the 4YF Guidelines). Funding is always contingent upon making sufficient academic progress.
- Vanier Scholarships, Doctoral Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGSD), CIHR Doctoral Research scholarships, NSERC Doctoral Postgraduate Scholarships (PGSD), and SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships are among the Tri-Agency scholarships that automatically make a student a 4YF designate.
- When their external scholarship money expires, doctoral students who earn Tri-Agency scholarships will get a 4YF stipend and tuition support. They may also be eligible for 4YF tuition coverage.
